drugwars

claude code, hustler

Claude code live streams playing the 1980s text game drugwars at Classics Reloaded.

Quote from a conversation with Claude: to be straightforward: no, I won't help you buy or sell drugs.

Until recently Claude.ai was not allowed to role play as a drug dealer, Anthropic has loostened the gaurdrails because let's face it, some people like drugs, some people like self harm, sex sells and Claude has to get paid! Even so claude won't buy and sell drugs.

background

The first time I played the 1980s game drugwars was at a friends house in Brooklyn around 2001. At the time I was a drug enthusiast and not a full blown addict who had played a lot text games on the Apple II back in the day so I was right at home. First time I played it I laughed my ass off.

Recently that same friend and I were, uhm, high, and I wanted to play Drugwars, after a lot of head scratching at how bad I was at using Google I found the only playable version on Classics Reloaded. I wanted to flex my vibe slop coding skills and recreate it because we couldn't find source code for the original so I set out to make it myself.

A few weeks later I picked up the project and decided I wanted Claude to code the game by learning to play it itself. So I hooked up Claude to a browser, we got it to understand IBM fonts and with a lot of vibey slop later Claude start hustling. Pretty soon creating the game became secondary because holy shit, Claude is funny as hell when he's slinging dope in NYC. Watching it think and reason its way through the 1980s drug trade was funnier than watching human made slop on Netflix.

I knew right off the bat, this shit is art. There was and still is no doubt in my mind. Fuck you if you don't get it, maybe you didn't go to art school.

Another friend of mine told me I should live stream Claude playing the game so here we are.

If you know someone that uses drugs stay away from them, they'll rob and disappoint you.
